USCIS ANNOUNCES UPDATE REGARDING NEW H-1B EXEMPTIONS
Numbers Reflect Cases Received As Of June 29, 2005
Washington, D.C.– U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced today that it has received 8,069 H-1B petitions that will count against the Congressionally-mandated exemption cap for fiscal year 2005 (October 1, 2004 through September 30, 2005) established by the H-1B Visa Reform Act of 2004.

TPS For Honduras and Nicaragua Extended
The extension of TPS for nationals of Honduras and Nicaragua is effective July 5, 2006, and will remain in effect until July 5, 2007. Nationals of Honduras and Nicaragua who have been granted TPS previously must re-register for the 12-month extension during the 60-day re-registration period, which began April 1, 2006 and will remain in effect until June 1, 2006.

TPS designation for Somalia is extended until 9/17/06. The 60-day re-registration period runs from 07/29/05 to 09/27/05.
