Biography

Ignacio is an immigration attorney with broad experience in employment, family, and humanitarian cases, working at Steven C. Thai, P.A. since 2018. He is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), the Attorney Bar Association (ABA), and Minnesota Bar Association (MSBA), and he is admitted to practice in New York and before immigration courts and federal agencies throughout the United States for immigration law matters. His office is located in Minnetonka, Minnesota. Ignacio is fluent in Spanish and English, as he was born and raised in Santiago, Chile.

Ignacio holds a bachelor and JD degree from Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile (2015) and a LLM degree from University of St. Thomas Law School (2017). He interned with The Advocates for Human Rights in Minnesota and the Center for Democracy and Development in Chile. As an immigrant himself, he understands the complexities and challenges of navigating the U.S. immigration system.

Having immigrated as a student himself, Ignacio has broad experience with F-1 visa students trying to change status to H-IB visas for professional workers or O-1 visas for individuals of extraordinary ability with the goal of finally obtaining a greencard and citizenship. Ignacio has also worked on extraordinary ability petitions and national interest waivers for many renowned individuals including musicians, actresses, singers, athletes, and engineers. Ignacio also has extensive experience representing individuals in removal and custody cases before the immigration courts, including asylum, cancellation, and all types of waivers.

Before working at Steven C. Thal, Ignacio worked for a few years in several non-profit organizations working with immigrants, including law clinics, The Advocates for Human Rights, and International Amnesty.
